Chief's Report January 4, 2007

1.    ISO status.  We will be postponing water movement exercises until the weather breaks and we no longer have to worry about freezing pumps and appliances.  Our water training will center on our new CAFS pumper.

2.   Physician Advisor: As the result of an incident in December, we are discussing our patient transport and transfer protocols with our new Physician Advisor Dr. Moss.  We will be making our transfers with the Ute Pass (woodland Park) Ambulance District and the criteria for transports to Canon City will be modified.

3.   New Pumper project:  Chairman Stanley has taken over as Project Manager for this effort.  We have purchased a used CAFS pumper that meets all of our specifications.  It is expected to be delivered later this month.  We are arranging for an instructor to come and show us how to operate the CAFS.   This will be done at a Saturday training day in January.

4.   Ambulance Stationing: In order to reduce response time, we have moved our ambulances to the outlying stations.  The idea is that our EMTs will be able to get them on the road faster and reduce the travel times to medical calls.  So far this approach seems to be working.
